COMMUNITY NOTICE & PUBLIC AWARENESS: RAINY SEASON SAFETY IN RWANDA

Dear Citizens,

Rwanda is currently experiencing heavy rainfall across many regions. While rain supports our agriculture and environment, it also brings serious safety risks. Everyone is urged to take the following precautions to protect lives and communities.

Beware of Landslides Continuous rain weakens soil, especially in hilly and mountainous areas.

Avoid staying or walking near steep slopes during heavy rain.

Watch for cracks in the ground, falling rocks, or moving soil.

Move to safer places immediately if you notice danger.

Inform local authorities or community leaders about risky areas.

Avoid Using Electronic Devices During Rainstorms Rain accompanied by thunder and lightning can cause electrical accidents.

Do not use phones or electronic devices outdoors during storms.

Avoid charging devices when lightning is present.

Stay away from electrical wires and damaged power lines.

Unplug electronics during strong storms when possible.

Parents & Guardians Protect Our Children Heavy rain makes travel unsafe for students.

Parents are encouraged to go to schools and pick up children during heavy rainfall.

Do not allow children to walk alone through flooded or slippery roads.

Stay in communication with schools during bad weather.

Drivers Human Lives Are in Your Hands Every passenger is someone’s loved one.

Reduce speed and drive carefully on wet roads.

Pay attention to pedestrians and cyclists.

Avoid flooded roads and landslide-prone areas.

Ensure your vehicle is safe and well maintained.

Community Responsibility Safety is everyone’s duty

Let us look after one another, share information, and act responsibly during this rainy season.

Together, we can prevent accidents and save lives.

Stay alert. Stay safe. Protect Rwanda

Solo.
