"DON'T SEE PEOPLE THROUGH YOUR OWN CHARACTERS"
A young man was walking from spartan to Athens and met an old man on the road. He asked the old man what the people were like in Athens? the old man asked, what are the Spartans like?"
"Ah, they are all thieves and double face people you can't trust anyone. the young man replied.
" I am sorry," replied the old man." You will find they are the same in Athens."
Grumbling, they young man continued on his way. A while later the old man encountered another young man, who ask him the same question. "Oh, they are a good folks, most of them. They might seem a bit rough at first, but really most people you meet is Sparta are good hearted, honesty types." you are lucky, then," replied the old man with smile." You will find They are the same in Athens."
I like that little story. People see world through the filter of their own characters. A con man who 's always looking for a way to take advantage of others will approach the world distressfully, assuming that others will try to cheat if he is not careful. A person who believes him or herself to be good heart will assume other are the same way.
Similarly, a thief sees the world full of thieves, an honest person sees a world full of hard-working people, and if someone steals from him /her, will guess that they are the exception rather than the rule.
